Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-15
This notice explains, as required by Article 13 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), what personal data we collect through this website, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it.

2. What we collect
- The email address you submit to the SwimSensei early access form.
- Any email you choose to send us, and its contents.
We collect nothing else through this website: no account data, no analytics profiles, no behavioural tracking. Aggregated, anonymous visit statistics are described under "Website analytics" below. If you use the SwimSensei app, we also collect health and fitness data from your wearable device — see "Health and fitness data from wearables" below.
If you choose to save a pool, SwimSensei reads your device's location to remember where that pool is, so it can suggest it the next time you are there. This happens only when you tap "Save this pool" or when the app checks whether you are at a pool you already saved. Your location stays on your phone and is never uploaded to SwimSensei.
3. Health and fitness data from wearables
If you use the SwimSensei app, we collect health and fitness data from the wearable device you pair with it — an Apple Watch, a Wear OS device (e.g. a Galaxy Watch), and/or a Movella DOT motion sensor. This includes:
- Raw motion and inertial-sensor (IMU) data: accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer readings.
- Heart rate, on devices that measure it.
- Swim metrics we derive from this data, such as laps, strokes, and pace.
This is sensitive health data under GDPR Article 9, and we only process it with your explicit consent, given when you set up the app and connect a wearable. It is uploaded from your wearable to SwimSensei's servers, hosted on Microsoft Azure in the EU, where it is used to analyse your swim and generate coaching feedback. We also use this data, pseudonymised, to train and improve the detection algorithms behind the app. We keep it for as long as your account is active; see "Your rights" below for how to have it deleted.
4. Why we collect it (purpose)
To contact you about SwimSensei early access and product updates, to reply to messages you send us, and — for app users — to analyse your swims and generate coaching feedback.
5. Legal basis
Your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), given when you submit the waitlist form, write to us, or set up the app. For the health data described above, this is explicit consent under GDPR Art. 9(2)(a). You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us — withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before it. Website analytics rely on our legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)), as described in section 9.
6. How long we keep it (retention)
We keep your email address until product launch communications end, or until you ask us to remove it — whichever comes first. We keep your health and fitness data for as long as your account is active, or until you ask us to remove it.
7. Who receives it (recipients and processors)
This site is hosted on Vercel, which also processes our website analytics (see "Website analytics" below); form submissions may be processed via our infrastructure providers. App data, including health and fitness data, is processed by our infrastructure providers — hosted on Microsoft Azure in the EU — and by our authentication provider, Supabase. We do not sell your data and we do not use advertising trackers.
8. Cookies
This site does not use cookies or tracking technologies. Website analytics (see below) works without cookies.
9. Website analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics (provider: Vercel Inc., processing on Vercel's infrastructure) to count page views, referrers (for example which site or assistant sent a visitor, such as a utm_source value), and coarse device, browser, operating system and country.
We also count two actions on our home page: submitting the early-access form, and clicking one of our email addresses. For an email click we record which address was clicked, never who clicked it. These counts are aggregated like the rest of the analytics data.
It uses no cookies and does not identify individual visitors; the data is aggregated. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is found and used (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). For more detail, see Vercel's privacy policy.
10. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, and erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw your consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, including to request that we delete your account and the data associated with it, email info@swimsensei.ai — we respond within 30 days. Deleting your account erases your personal data and health and fitness data from our systems, other than what we must keep to meet legal, tax, or accounting obligations, and stops any further use of your data to improve our detection algorithms.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian supervisory authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (gpdp.it).
